Oklahoma has long been analogous with Bingo. That’s due to the fact that the Amerindian tribes of Oklahoma have run Bingo games for decades. Guests from many of the neighboring states load up in cars and head over to Oklahoma to enjoy Bingo for the weekends.

The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was introduced after a benchmark decision by The U.S. Supreme Court the year before. Since that instance, 23 of the 39 American Indian bands of Oklahoma have opened gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the first Oklahoma American Indian band to take advantage of the wagering laws, and today run 10 gambling dens of their own. Bingo is the game on which these casinos were built on. Electronic games such as slot machines were not authorized, because they’re believed to contribute to gambling problems at a higher rate than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma law have changed to allow for enormous Amerindian wagering gambling halls. You’ll now see Indian gambling halls with slot machine games, video poker and vingt-et-un tables. Craps and roulette are still not authorized in the American Indian gambling dens as of yet, however this is only a waiting game. No one can say whether having other games in the bingo houses will do for the draw of bingo.
